The HeartSine® Samaritan® PAD 500P is a semi-automatic defibrillator that delivers a potentially life-saving shock for someone suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. It also gives CPR advice to assist the rescuer with defibrillation. By analysing heart rhythm, it can decipher whether an electric shock is required. The device will prompt the rescuer to press a button that will administer the shock. If a normal heart rate is detected, the device will not be able to administer the shock.

- CPR advisor function, which guides the rescuer through the process of effective CPR. It can advise on compression pressure and speed based on casualty feedback from the heart. Unlike other devices, advice is not based solely on the depth of compression but on impedance changes of the casualty. This gives the patient the best chance of survival and the rescuer the assurance they have done everything they can.
